The U.S. Forest Service is seeking your input on the future of the George Washington National Forest. Every 15 years the federal government updates the management plans for the national forest. Friday night, the community gave its input on everything from hunting to trail access. Planning officer Ken Landgarf says the national forest belongs to all of us, and how that forest is managed varies a lot on what we hear from people and what they want. After all the input is gathered, more detailed meetings dealing with some of the specific issues will be planned from August to October. Organizers say they hope to have a draft of the new plan available for public review by the January 1, 2009 and finalize it by the end of 2009.
