The judicial proceedings against a Penn Laird man charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon hit a snag because he is in the hospital. Gary Wayne Gibson has been hospitalized in the critical care unit at Rockingham Memorial Hospital for more than a week and has had major surgery, according to court records submitted by his attorney. His attorney told the court that she hasn't been able to have discussions with her client recently as he hasn't been able to participate in planning his defense. Rockingham County Circuit Court Judge James Lane set an Oct. 10 court date to get an update on the status of the case.
