Parents of some pupils at Leslie Fox Keyser Elementary School still want answers over how Warren County Public Schools dealt with a third-grader who recently brought a pellet gun to the school. The incident happened on a school bus more than a week ago, an 8-year old girl told her father the boy, who sits next to her, pointed the gun at her and said he was going to shoot people at the school, and if she told anyone, he would shoot her too. On Wednesday, LFK Principal Brenda Ring sent a letter home with pupils informing parents that the situation had been dealt with. Ring called the pellet gun a toy, and said the boy had no intention of hurting anyone. Parents and the sheriff's office disagree with the description of a pellet gun as a toy, and say the rumored one-day suspension of the boy is not enough of a consequence for his actions. Ring says privacy laws prevent her from discussing it.
